Type Locality and Naming

Along the Dzhamsugum uplift, Pre-Tashkent Chul. G.A.Belenky, 1966 (96, p.103). Stratotype in the southern part of the Dzhamsugum uplift, on the right bank of the Syrdarya River, 150 km from Tashkent.

Synonym: Dzhamsutum Suite, Джамсугумская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Greenish-light-gray, red clays, sandstones with layers of polymictic conglomerates and siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 15-140m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies with erosion on the Akdachin Fm and transgressively on the Paleozoic

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion by the Syuksok Fm

Regional extent

Pre-Tashkent Chul, foothills of Chatkal, Karzhantau, and Kuramin ridges, in the Tashkent depression uncovered by drilling. Dzhamsugum Fm is an analog of the Urumbash Fm of S. Fergana.

Fossils

Contains marine bivalve mollusks - Liostrea ex gr. delettrei Coq., Rhynchostreon chaperi Bayle, Gyrostrea longa (Bobk.); foraminifera - Gaudryinopsis asiaticus (N.Byk.), Haplophragmoides turonicus Zhuk., Brotzenella berthelini (Kell.), Hedbergella ex gr. holzli (Hagn.), Gavelinella aff. moniliformis (Reuss).


Age 

Belongs to the upper Cenomanian - middle Turonian; Along G.A. Belenky (96), - to the lower Turonian, along "Resolution...., 1977" (383), - to the upper Cenomanian - upper Turonian; in the Strat. vol. (446) - to the upper Cenomanian - lower Turonian.
